Orillia. A nice town that really seems to welcome boaters. A fantastic new marina with the best bathroom facilities . A great waterfront park and trail system. Beaches, concerts, paths, etc. Easy walk to downtown and a good selection of restaurants. Easy walk to the grocery store and LCBO. Artsy little town. Hometown to the singer Gordon Lightfoot so there's a statue honoring him in one of the parks. Had a hellacious squall come through one evening so glad we were tied up and secured. Over in less than 1/2 hour with high winds and sideways rain then back to normal.
Last years city artwork was sailboats
This years display is bicycles
Walking/biking trail connecting waterfront parks
Gordon Lightfoot statue. Hard to see but it depicts a younger Gordon sitting cross legged playing a guitar. A circle of maple leaves surround him with each leaf having a scene from one of his songs.
The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
"Big Band" concerts in the park every Sunday evening during the summer
Aquatic vegetation removal system. Sort of a giant underwater hedge clipper.
Storm a brewing!!
